Pac-12 Networks (abbreviated P12N ) is an American sports-oriented cable and satellite television network owned by the Pac-12 Conference. The studio facilities and production network are headquartered in the South of Market district of San Francisco, California.

In addition to the national network, it also operates a group of six regional sports networks focusing on schools in conferences with the Pac-12 Networks brand:

  • Arizona Pac-12, which brings events from the University of Arizona and Arizona State University
  • Pac-12 Bay Area, featuring events from the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University
  • Pac-12 Los Angeles, featuring events from the University of California, Los Angeles, and the University of Southern California
  • Pac-12 Mountain, featuring events from the University of Colorado and University of Utah
  • Pac-12 Oregon, featuring events from the University of Oregon and Oregon State University
  • Pac-12 Washington, featuring events from Washington University and Washington State University

Announced on July 27, 2011 and launched on August 15, 2012, the national network is available for at least 48 million paid TV households in the United States at the time of its debut, while regional networks are available in all providers in each of the Pac-12 Regional regions. This is the third sports network dedicated to certain college athletics conferences (after the Big Ten Network and MountainWest Sport Network is now dead) and the first is owned by a live conference without support from outside companies (Fox Entertainment Group owns 49% of the Big Ten Network, while MountainWest Sports Network has CBS and Comcast as partners, and SEC Network is wholly owned by ESPN).

This network features 24-hour coverage of Pac-12 sanctions sporting events, including Olympic sports as well as broadcasts from archived sports broadcasts. The contract ensures that every basketball and basketball game is broadcast nationwide. The sport that is not featured on the Pac-12 Network nationwide is carried over the regional network as well as on the Pac-12 Digital Network, which was launched on the same day.

On June 10, 2012, the Pac-12 Conference announced a partnership with On Demand and Comcast Media Center (CMC) pay-per-view services that will provide network with technical support, video on demand service, and support for TV service Everywhere. Infrastructure Pac-12 Networks, 12 member institutions and CMC operations in Denver, Colorado are connected through a fiber network. Parent control origination services, including satellite front-haul compression and service, satellite receiver authorization, and disaster recovery are also run through CMC in Denver. The next month on July 22, the Pac-12 Conference announced an additional partnership with In Demand that will provide cellular and crew production facilities below the line for all 12 schools in the conference.

Programming

Pac-12 Networks generates about 850 college activities each year (350 events on the Pac-12 national network, and 500 events conducted in the Pac-12 regional network). The national network includes 35 football matches, 100 men's basketball games and 40 women's basketball games each year. The Pac-12 national network also features all spring football games, coach events, and news conferences. The Pac-12 network has also shown rugby matches played by schools from the PAC Rugby Conference, though college rugby is not a sport approved by the NCAA.

  • Varsity Days - A program featuring rare or unprecedented footage of pac-12 and trainers, closing back historic moments and unforgettable battles
  • Timeline - Series 12 installments that record great sports moments from the previous year for each Pac-12 school
  • Conference of Champions - A non-sports program featuring current students in features that explore how universities and educational experiences trigger personal aspirations and future career endeavors. Presidents, chancellors, and professors provide additional context, providing a unique and poignant look at the rich history, culture, and traditions of each of the Pac-12 universities.

The original announcement of the Pac-12 Networks launch on July 27, 2011 included the announcement of a train agreement with four major cable providers, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Bright House Networks to bring the Pac-12 Network and Pac-12 Digital Networks when it was launched. The agreement does not guarantee that Pac-12 Networks will be available in all areas within the Pac-12 university area, and a minimum of 40 million homes nationwide at the launch date. The agreement completes a 12-year agreement initiated by Pac-12 with Fox Sports and ESPN starting in 2012. In addition, the network also held long negotiations with satellite providers. Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott stated in an interview on May 8, 2012 with a KJR sports radio station in Seattle that he's "quietly optimistic" dealing with service providers will be made on time for the launch of the channel planned in 2012. On September 7, 2013, Pac -12 Network has not signed a train deal with DirecTV, Communication Charter and Verizon FiOS.

On July 20, 2012, the Pac-12 Conference announced a long-term agreement with National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), a cooperative of 900 smaller and rural cable providers, allowing every member of NCTC access to carry one or more of Pac-12 Network and provides access to the Pac-12 Digital Network via the NCTC WTVE TV Everywhere platform. At the conference August 10, 2012, the conference announced that members of NCTC Strata Networks and All West Communications in Utah, San Bruno Cable in San Francisco Bay Area, GCI in Alaska, LocalTel Communications in Wenatchee, WA and Ashland Communications in Oregon have agreed to bring Pac- 12 Network. On July 28, 2012, Frontier Communications announced on one of its official Facebook accounts that the company will bring channels on Frontier FiOS TV. The deal was officially announced on August 1, 2012.

Some smaller providers reached a train deal with the network during August 2012. On August 1, Oregon-based cable provider BendBroadband announced its intention to bring Pac-12 Networks and Pac-12 Digital Networks on their "bendbroadband2go" TV Platform - where. Two days later on August 3, 2012, the Arizona-based Western Broadband and Orbitel Communications announced their intention to bring the Pac-12 Arizona Network. On August 6th, Astound Broadband announced its intention to bring Pac-12 Bay Area Network. A day later on August 7th, Wave Broadband announced its intention to bring Pac-12 Bay Area, Oregon, and Washington Networks. On August 8, 2012, CC Communications announced its intention to bring the Pac-12 National Network and one regional channel Pac-12 (on August 30, 2012, CC Communications began carrying the Pac-12 Mountain network, in addition to the national network). On August 21, 2012, Canby Telecom announced its intention to bring the Pac-12 National Network as well as all regional networks Pac-12.

On September 8, 2012, Dish Network announced that it will bring the Pac-12 National Network from September 8th. To date, this is the only satellite carrier that has reached a train deal with Pac-12 Networks, and is the largest paying television provider to reach a train deal for 2012, bringing the nationwide coverage of Pac-12 Networks to about 60 million households. On February 1, 2016, however, Pac-12 restricted access to regional channels for DISH subscribers. On October 10, 2012, the conference reached an agreement with Consolidated Communications for SureWest Communications Systems in Northern California to carry out regional services of the Pac-12 Gulf Region. On September 6, 2013, Pac-12 Networks entered into an agreement with AT & amp; T U-verse to bring the main feed on channel 759 (as well as on channel 760 in San Francisco Bay Area, and on channel 761 in Los Angeles).

By 2015, Pac-12 Networks "is available in" 90 million homes, but about 12 million actually subscribe to the network, according to SNL Kagan. On February 10, 2016, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on behalf of Jessop & amp; Proulx LLP, adds Pac-12 Network to the list of foreign broadcasters allowed to be brought by Canadian pay-TV providers. By the end of 2016, the Pac-12 Network has a train deal with the Communication Charter in Los Angeles and Dallas, Frontier FiOS, and Sling TV streaming services, but still has not reached an agreement with DirecTV. On June 8, 2012, Pac-12 Enterprises announced a partnership with Ooyala to develop Pac-12 Digital Network, branded as Pac-12 Now , which serves as TV Everywhere platform for Pac-12 Networks. Pac-12 Now is available via a web browser, mobile and iOS devices, with content accessible via login via a pay-TV provider. The Pac-12 Digital Network broadcasts 800 live sports events, including Olympic sports, 30 football games and 130 men's basketball games annually. Video on demand content, including the latest and classic shows, is also available in the service.

Pac-12 Plus

In June 2016, Pac-12 Enterprises announced that Twitter's social network will broadcast at least 150 straight games in the 2016-2017 season under the Pac-12 Plus brand. This service will not feature college football or basketball, but less prominent sports such as soccer, baseball, softball, ice hockey, gymnastics, swimming, and track and field.

Strike

On December 8, 2012, the International Alliance of theoretical Stage Employees (IATSE) announced a strike against the network, citing the recruitment of low-paying non-union worker crews on many of the twelve campus locations. The strike ended 10 days later.
