Top 10 World's Longest Commercial Flights by Distance flown
src: www.cruisinaltitude.com

Over time, different airlines have established a number of ultra-long distance flights. This article covers the longest flight between them. The opening of this super long route can reduce the number of stops that passengers have to take to improve passenger comfort on the move and reduce the time needed to travel between the distant city couples, although transit can also be rejuvenated on long-haul trips. It can also help build ego and build loyalty among a set of leaflets. And thus there is competition among airlines to build the longest flight,.

Definisi

The word "longest flight" can mean many different things. The most commonly used metrics are for the distance between the origin and destination airports, but can also refer to the longest period of time required to fly a route or the actual distance flown by the aircraft. Also, although this is most often used to compare between different non-stop flights, direct flights with dismissal can also be compared on several occasions.

Maps Longest flights

The longest current route

"The longest flight in the world" has disputed status due to the announcement of such a claim. While the distance between the two cities is constant, the plane does not follow the straight line but will adjust the flight path based on headwinds/tailwinds, other weather events, and to avoid flying over certain countries due to politics or war.

With large circle and time span

Since February 5, 2017, scheduled non-stop scheduled flights with large mileage are Qatar Airways Flight 921/920 between Auckland, New Zealand and Doha, Qatar at 14,535 kilometers (7,848 nmi; 9,032 mi). Flights using Boeing 777-200LR. QR 921 from Auckland to Doha is also the longest flight in duration, taking 18 hours and 20 minutes.

With overland distances

The route can avoid a shorter ground distance from a large circular route to use the direction meter to save time and fuel, shortening the equivalent air distance equals. Air India flights from Delhi to San Francisco can be diverted to the Pacific Ocean rather than the North Pole over 15,000 km (8,099 nmi; 9,321 mi) rather than 12,395 km (6,693 nmi; 7,702 mi), similar to 17 Hours QR 921, but take 14, 5 hours due to towing.

Cathay Pacific flights from Hong Kong to New York City-JFK can fly 15,000 km (8,099 nmi; 9,321 mi) of land lane, and not a large circular route of 12,984 km (7,011 nmi; 8,068 mi, mi).

History

From 1943 to 1945, Qantas operated "The Double Sunrise", a 5,652 kilometer (3,052Ã, nmi: 3,512Ã, mi) weekly flight between Perth, Australia and Koggala Lagoon in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) with an average flight time of 28 hour, using the consolidated CPBC Catalina. One of these flights remains the record holder for the longest time in the air (for commercial flights) at 32 hours, 9 minutes.

On October 1-2, 1957, Trans World Airlines Lockheed L-1649 Starliner, the best piston engined aircraft in terms of range and durability, flew with 8,638 kilometers (4,664 nmi; 5,367 million) of London-San Francisco polar routes in 23 hours, 19 minutes.

In June 1961, El Al started a 9,113-kilometer route (4,934 nmi; 5.677 mi) from New York City-JFK to Tel Aviv using Boeing 707 and an average of 9 hours, 33 minutes. This route was previously tested in December 1957 with Bristol Britannia.

In August 1967 AerolÃÆ'neas Argentinas established the uninterrupted Boeing 707 service on a 10,063 kilometer (5,434 nmi: 6,253 mi) route between Madrid and Buenos Aires with a 12-hour flight time.

The AerolÃÆ'neas Argentinas route was the longest scheduled flight from long distance until 1976, when the Boeing 747-SP entered service. In April 1976, Pan American World Airways set a new record with a route of 10,899 kilometers (5,885 nmi; 6,772 mi) of New York City-JFK/Tokyo-Haneda. In December, the airline set another record with Sydney-San Francisco, covering 11,937 kilometers (6,445 nmi; 7,417 mi).

The dissolution of the Soviet Union finally opened up the airspace over Russia, allowing new circumpolar routes to begin to be used for commercial flights. On March 1, 2001, Continental Airlines launched a non-stop 12,980 kilometers (7,009? Nmi; 8,065Ã, mi) service from Newark to Hong Kong on Boeing 777 aircraft. The non-stop flight duration exceeded 16 hours. Within a month, United Airlines embarked on its own New York City-JFK to Hong Kong service on a Boeing 747-400 plane, adding 11 kilometers to the distance.

In June 2004, Singapore Airlines introduced the SQ 21 Flight, using the Airbus A340-500 at 15,344 kilometers (8,285Ã, nmi; 9,534Ã mi, mi) a large loop route from Newark to Singapore, passing 130 kilometers (70Ãmi; ) from the Arctic and takes a little over 18 hours. It was immediately surpassed by the return of SQ 22, which flew the current record of 16,600 kilometers (8,963 nmi; 10.315Ã mi) back to Newark. Despite further distance, SQ 22 averages a little shorter 17 hours, 45 minutes due to the prevailing breeze.

In the late 2000s/early 2010, rising fuel prices coupled with the Great Recession led to the cancellation of many ultra-long hauls, non-stop flights. This includes services provided by Singapore Airlines from Singapore to Newark and Los Angeles which expire at the end of 2013. But as fuel prices have declined and more fuel-efficient aircraft have begun to be used, many ultra-long haul routes have been recovered or new scheduled.

Longest passenger flight

Nonstop flights (big 30, with large loop spacing)

The following table lists the longest non-stop scheduled passenger routes in the world with "big loop" distances. Actual distances traveled, however, can be longer than large circular distances for various reasons, such as avoiding bad weather, taking advantage of favorable winds in the air, rotating around enclosed airspace, and moving around the war zone.

For the purposes of this table, multiple flights operated by the same carrier between the same airports are counted as one flight, while different airlines operating between the same airports are calculated separately. In addition, each airport pair is calculated separately, although some cities have multiple airports that support long haul flights (eg Kennedy and Newark airports serving New York City and Haneda and Narita serving Tokyo).

Notes

The date given to start Qantas Flight 8 is when it starts flying non-stop after switching to Airbus A380- 800 from Boeing 747 -400ER. Previously, QF 8 needed a stop in Brisbane, although QF 7 to the east of Sydney was always non-stop. The first flight QF 7 is May 16, 2011.

^ Note 2 After Qatar Airways started a nonstop flight between Doha and Auckland on 5 February 2017, the flight is currently operated by the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft fly. 777-200LR is a temporary solution. In the near future, it will be an Airbus A350 but not currently available enough.

^ Note 3 Initially Air Canada flights 37 and 38 will end seasonally on February 4, 2018. They will resume on June 1 and 3, 2018 each as a year-round service.

Direct flights

Direct flights between origin and destination end have intermediate stops, with all segments having the same flight number and using the same plane. In the following table, the "Distance" column lists the large circle distances between the origin and the final destination, excluding the stop. The "Striped path" column lists the total distance of the large circle from the origin to the stop to the final destination.
