A.at-Domain can be between one to 63 characters. International domain name registration is accepted. In 2007, it was possible to register a domain name containing only numbers..at-Domain began using DNSSEC in 2011 to ensure the authenticity and integrity of the Domain Name System data.

Prior to August 2016, it was only possible to register a.at-Domain with three or more (two for co.at, ac.at, gv.at, or.at) characters.
