The American Hero Channel ( AHC , formerly Military Channel and originally Discovery Wings Channel ) is the American digital cable and satellite network television owned by Discovery Inc. This network brings together programs related to military, war, and military history and science.
As of February 2015, the channel is available for approximately 59.917 million pay-TV households (51.5% of households with at least one television set) in the United States.

This channel was launched in July 1998, as Discovery Wings Channel ; initially focused on programs related to aircraft and space. During the early years, this network also aired the weather segment near the top of every hour showing the estimated flight data from the National Weather Service. Discovery Communications filed a trademark application with the United States Copyright Office for the use of the name "Military Channel" in 2002, after the trademark was abandoned by an unrelated start-up cable network based in Louisville, Kentucky, also named The Military Channel , which was darkened in 1999 and then went bankrupt. The network - which focuses on heroes, history, and hardware of the international military terrain - has difficulty raising capital, despite initial success.
On January 10, 2005, the network was renamed as Military Channel . Takes from its original format, many network programs as Military Channels dedicated to air warfare and related technologies and issues. Many of the programs featured on the American Heroes Channel are war documentaries, whose contents mostly deal with modern warfare, and in particular the US military from World War II and beyond. While A E Networks-owned History, Military History and H2 water are similar to programming, they tend to show more programs about other periods of time and culture (ancient, Roman, Middle Ages, East, and other forms of warfare). AHC has more contemporary subject matter than its competitors, but it sometimes presents historical programming as well. Actor Dennis Haysbert serves as a network continuity anchor for his on-air promotion.
In addition, the channel also features feature films with military themes (usually in the Hosted Movies and Movies series of movies, hosted by Lou Diamond Phillips), as well as individual episodes of other shows.
