Histori
In December 2000, the MLSE was granted approval by the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) for a Category 2 digital specialty channel license tentatively known as the Raptors Basketball Channel , the channel described as aimed primarily for Toronto Raptors basketball franchise and National Basketball Association (NBA), with additional programs related to other aspects of basketball.
The channel was launched on September 7, 2001 as NBA TV Raptors , with NBA-focused programming and other basketball-related programming, although it maintains a particular emphasis on the Toronto Raptors. On November 1, 2005, the network launched a high definition simulcast.
On October 15, 2010, the channel changed its name to NBA TV Canada , as the network began airing more programs aimed at NBA and international basketball in general, sourced from its US partners.
This channel is worth $ 21 million on behalf of CRTC in 2012.

Programming
NBA TV Canada broadcasts programming mainly related to NBA and Raptors, as well as other league coverage including EuroLeague and Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Regular hosts for local studio programs include David Amber, Sherman Hamilton, Matt Devlin, Leo Rautins and Jack Armstrong. This channel broadcasts NBA games sourced from NBA TV and ESPN, and other native programs from NBA TV.
NBA TV Canada does not broadcast Raptors games directly outside of pre-season (shared between TSN and Sportsnet networks - owned by the majority of MLSE owners Rogers Communications and Bell Canada), but broadcast a full encore and abbreviated Raptors broadcast.
