The National Private Tax Academy is the apex training institute of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) and the Indian Government Revenue Tax Department. Over the years, he has enhanced and embellished the national interest by printing the wealth of human capital and functioning as a think tank of 'best interests' in tax policies and administration. The academy instills capabilities in core competence areas, disseminates information about the best of academics and practices and provides an international perspective, high-quality professional skills and cultural sensitivity to the officers.
The main purpose of the Academy is to train civil service officers from the Indian Revenue Service. But for many years after UPSC and the DOPT license also trained officers from the Indian Police Service, Indian Overseas Service, Indian Ordnance Factories Service, Indian Postal Service, Indian Railway Officers, Central Investigation Bureau, Indian Directorate of Enforcement Submissions and Telegraph Accounts and Financial Services, Account Audit and Services India, India Corporate Law Services, Indian Client Account Services and India Cost Account Services.

Histori
The organized training of IRS officers recruited through the prestigious Civil Service Exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission began in Nagpur about 5 decades ago, on 05-02-1957 and the Academy took its final form in 1981. Since then, the National Academy of Direct Taxes has growing in the number of trained personnel and in facilities, quality and reputation. His training programs consistently receive international recognition and praise. The Academy, along with seven Regional Training Institutions (RTIs) and 46 Ministry Staff Training Units (MSTU) located across the country, cater to the training needs of nearly 50,000 officers and staff of the Income Tax Department in India. More than 100 training courses and seminars are held annually at various campuses.

Organization
The Academy is headed by the Director General of Income Tax (Training) which is equivalent to the Special Secretary's Rating for the Government of India. He is assisted by three additional General Directors who are equal to the rank of the Joint Secretary for the Government. India, eight Addl./Joint Directors and 13 Deputy/Assistant Directors.
The Pr DGIT (Training) is the training coordinator for the tax-income department. He has overall responsibility for planning, organizing and conducting induction training courses for pregnant inspectors and organizing in-service training programs for senior Department officials.
The Pr DGIT (Training) also oversees the functioning of ten Regional Training Institutes in Bangalore, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Mumbai, Chennai, Chandigarh, Ahmedadabad, Hazaribagh and Bhopal and 46 Training Unit of Ministry Staff spread across the country. These institutions provide training to various cadres of the Income Tax Department within their jurisdictions.
Broadly, it is set in the Administration and Faculty Wings. The administration takes care of the infrastructure facilities at the academy and works in its maintenance. This is also apparent after the Planning and Research of the Wing and Library. The Wing Faculty oversees the Induction program and supports the training program. The Planning and Research Wing organizes seminars and courses for senior officers in service and also manages the Academy Publications Division.
Academy Mandate
The Academy is mandated by the Direct Tax Authority Council. Under the supervision of the Director General of Income Tax (Training) is responsible for following:
- Plan, design and implement induction/basic training courses for IRS officers and other services selected through UPSC.
- Plan, design, and organize training courses in positions both in NADT and RTI.
- Nominate various officers for various training courses conducted either in NADT or at RTI.
- Conduct research to identify new training needs of personnel in the Department as well as on the effectiveness of the training given to the interviewer.
- Preparation of course materials, background papers, etc. for courses to be undertaken from time to time on the basis of research studies.
- NADT library control, organization and development.
- Coordinate international courses on direct taxes made in India.
- Coordination between the IT Department and the Personnel Department in framing the training policies for department personnel.
- Organize paid courses for other Indian and foreign organizations.
- Design and implementation of special courses abroad with direct taxes for developing countries.
Induction Course
The flagship program of the academy is the Sixteen-month Induction Course long for new recruits to the Indian Revenue Service. Induction training is divided into two modules and after completion of each module there will be departmental checks done. Clearing the exams is mandatory for confirmation in the service.
In the First Module, the emphasis is on providing strong theoretical feedback on the subject of Theoretical Concepts and Practical Applications of the Direct Tax Act, Advanced Accounting and Finance and Business-I Law. During the First Module, the Industry Attachment for a week in February was followed by a five-day appreciation course for Parliamentary Process and Procedures by the Parliamentary Secretariat around the budget session arranged in New Delhi. The module also includes training opportunities with officials from other government wingers such as the IAS, IFS and IRS (C & amp; CE) in their respective academies. Recently, Ten days of engagement with the Indian Army was also cleansed. After completing the four-month training, there will be a Two-week Job Training where the Training Officer will be attached to the field formation. The First Module ends with the First Department Check.
The second module begins with another On-The-Job Training for about eight weeks. This is followed by International Attachment for a period of two weeks. Upon return of this, the Training Officer will be given feedback on the subjects 'Procedures/Techniques of Investigation and Ordering and Reporting', 'Information Technology and Operations', 'Strategic and Operational Management' and 'Business Laws II'. During this module, a number of guest lectures, both from and outside the Department, are held. Both departmental tests are done at the end of the module. Eligible trainees are expected to submit reports that will be examined by both the Academy and the Nalsar Law University which is then considered to provide a Master of Business Law and Taxation under the MOU. In the final weeks of the Module Officer Trainee was taken at Bharat Darshan to familiarize them with various parts of the Nation.
Direct Regional Training Institute Training
The Regional Tax Training Institute (DTRTI) was established to take care of the training needs of Department staff. They serve the training needs of officials with their jurisdiction. They are located in Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
They also help other govt departments, banks, corporations, etc. With training and faculty expertise also sought by other training institutions, law schools, banks and industry. They also oversee the Ministerial Staff Training Unit (MSTUs) with their jurisdiction. NADT is aggressively pursuing the modernization of DTRTI infrastructure because the human resource needs of the Income Tax Department are on the rise. Recently, the new DTRTI campus in Bangalore was inaugurated by the Honorable Minister of Finance.
Other Courses
The Academy also hosts many in-service training courses and outreach programs for senior members of the Income Tax Department. The Academy also works closely with OECD and other international organizations in key areas such as International Transfer and Taxation rates. Trainee officers from various South Asian countries such as Bhutan and Bangladesh also come for training at the academy
The Academy has also started conducting the Foundation Course for Civil Service Centers and All India Recruiting Services since 2010.
Infrastructure
The National Academy of Direct Taxes is spread across a vast area of ââ67 hectares and is known for its green lid. It's also a place with a modern infrastructure. The newly inaugurated hostel with 156 rooms is built at a cost of 24.10 crores and meets world standards. The Advanced Training Center under construction at a cost of 100 crore will be completed within a year.
The Academy Hostel is named after the place of study. Nalanda, Vikramshila is a Trial and Takshashila hostel is for the exclusive use of senior officers who take courses in positions. The Academy also has Vaishali House for visiting guests. The Academy also has an art sport infrastructure composed of the C.C.Ganapathy Indoor Sports Complex and an open field on campus. It also has a Library with the latest books and subscriptions to various national and international journals and magazines.
The Academy has a Shramdan tradition, in which a group of Executives leaves something behind. Some contributions include Amphitheater and Lumbini, Jetavana, Shalimar Garden on campus. Campus life is made more colorful and interesting through the activities of various Hobby Clubs and visits of prominent people from different walks of life who give lectures, meet and discuss with young temptations.
Other Activities
The Academy also publishes the regular bimonthly bulletin NADTree that deals with on-campus activities and the Regional Tax Training Institute. Another initiative is NADT Connecting a complete social networking portal to connect various Indian Revenue Service batches.
