General JosÃÆ'à à © MarÃÆ'a YÃÆ'áÃÆ' à ± ez International Airport (IATA: GYM , ICAO: MMGM ) is an international airport located in Guaymas , Sonora, Mexico. It handles national and international air traffic for the city of Guaymas. It was named after General JosÃÆ'à © MarÃÆ'a YÃÆ'áÃÆ' à ± ez who defended Guaymas against 400 French, German and Chilean philosophers in the 19th century. It is operated by Aeropuertos y Servicios Auxiliares, a federally owned company.
By 2016, the airport handles 12,618 passengers, and by 2017 handles 13,550 passengers.

History
Previous jet service
The US-based airline operates a scheduled passenger jet service from Guaymas during the 1970s. In 1975, Hughes Airwest operated a nonstop service to Phoenix (PHX) four days a week on a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 jet plane with this continuing flight offer, no service change to San Jose, CA (SJC), San Francisco (SFO), Sacramento (SMF), Eugene, OR (EUG). Portland, OR (PDX) and Seattle (SEA).
Aeromà © à © xico operates a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30 daily jet service from Guaymas nonstop to Tucson (TUS) for several years in the 1980s and 1990s.
US Airways is used to fly to Phoenix-Sky Harbor from Guaymas by Bombardier CRJ200; the route originally operated by Beechcraft 1900D and Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft. This service was discontinued at the end of 2012.
