History

Ohio SportsTime was launched on March 12, 2006; founded by the Cleveland Indians Larry Dolan family, became the second regional sports network in the Cleveland area, after Fox Sports Ohio (which was launched in February 1989 as SportsChannel Ohio). Ohio SportsTime assumes the right of regional cable television for Major League Baseball matches involving Indians from Fox Sports Ohio, who has served as an exclusive local broadcaster from India from 2002 to 2005, when it was majority owned by Cablevision Systems Corporation (New Company based in York owned by Dolan's brother Charles) to trade assets with Fox Sports Net's parent company, News Corporation.

Starting as a rival with Gannett-owned WKYC providing studio operations for cable channels, the two networks will soon become a sister company, when on December 3, 2012, the Indians announced that they will sell SportsTime Ohio to Fox Sports Ohio parent Fox Entertainment Group. The deal was finalized four weeks later on December 28. Fox retained the existing staff at SportsTime Ohio despite being under common ownership of Fox Sports Ohio, with Katie Witham being a travel journalist with the team.

In April 2013, at the start of the Major League Baseball 2013 season, SportsTime Ohio began to incorporate Fox Sports branding, imagery, and programs used on other Fox Sports regional networks. Also on June 29, 2015, the SportsTime Ohio surgery leaser, the company's WKYC parent, The Gannett Company is split in two, with one side that specializes in print and others who specialize in home broadcast and video media. WKYC is maintained by the last company, named TEGNA.

On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company announced plans to acquire 22 regional Fox Network networks from 21st Century Fox, including SportsTime Ohio, sister network Fox Sports Ohio, and 50% of Fox shares in the Cincinnati sub-feed network. Once the deal is approved, the network will change the brand under ESPN.
