Nicktoons
Nicktoons is the branding for the original Nickelodeon animated television series (though rarely used by the network itself since the launch of digital channels and the 2002 spin-off digital satellite of the same name). Until 1991, the animated series that aired on Nickelodeon were mostly imported from abroad, and some original animation specials were also featured on the channel up to that point. Original animated series continue to be an important part of the Nickelodeon range, with approximately 6 to 7 hours of programs aired on weekday schedules and around nine hours on the weekends, including animated blocks over the five-hour weekend. Since the end of the 2000s, after the channel reached an agreement with DreamWorks Animation in 2006 to develop studio animation films into the weekly series, the network has also started to incorporate Nicktoons that utilize three-dimensional computer animation (such as The Penguins of Madagascar , Fanboy & Chum Chum , and Winx Club ) other than those produced through traditional or digital ink and paint.
Movies
Nickelodeon does not air theatically or direct movies to video on a regular basis; however, the film produces self-made original television movies, which are usually premiere in the night time slots or on school vacations.
This channel sometimes shows films produced by the film production division of Nickelodeon Film on the network (the films are distributed by Paramount Pictures from sister company). Although the film division bears the Nickelodeon brand name, cable channels do not have access to most of the films produced by the film unit. Nickelodeon does have broadcast rights for most movies based on or that serve as the basis for the original series produced by the channel (such as Barns: The Original Party Animals ); the majority of live-action feature films produced under the Nickelodeon Film flag are licensed for broadcast by broadcast and cable television channels in the United States in addition to Nickelodeon (although the network has aired several live-action Movie Nickelodeon films like Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Good Burger ).
Nick on Nite (dubbed "nick @ nite" ) is Nickelodeon's nightly programming service, which debuted on July 1, 1985, and broadcast Sunday through Friday from 8:00 am. until 07:00, and Saturday starting at 09:00. until 07:00 Eastern and Pacific Time.
Originally featuring classic sitcoms from the 1950s and 1960s such as The Donna Reed Show , Ed, and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet , the programming finally shifted to the repetition of popular sitcoms from the 1980s to the 2000s such as Home Improvement , < i> The Cosby Show, and Roseanne . Nick at Nite also occasionally incorporates original manuscripts and series of competitions, with some in recent years being produced through Nickelodeon Productions units from its parent network. The program that aired on Nick on Nite in 2016 included Full House , Friends , Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , and George Lopez , as well as original series like View Dad Run and Instant Mom . Since 2004, Nielsen has broken Nick's television ratings on Nite and Nickelodeon as two separate networks.

On September 28, 2009, the network was renamed TeenNick, named after the former TEENick block that aired on Nickelodeon from July 2000 to February 2009. Although TeenNick has a more casual program standard than any other Nickelodeon channel (except Nick on Nite and Nickmom Block on Nick Jr.) - allows for moderate profanity, suggestive dialogue and some violent content - the network has shifted the lineup almost exclusively to current and previous Nickelodeon series (including some that were burned due to low ratings on the mainstay channel) that have more stringent content standards. It also airs several sitcoms and series dramas (such as Degrassi , which have been shown on the network since 2003 as The N) and up to rebranding, also include some native programs.
