History
The formation of Fox Sports New Orleans was announced on June 25, 2012, after Fox Sports Networks signed a new long-term agreement with the New Orleans Hornets (now New Orleans Pelicans) to broadcast an NBA team match. Fox gained regional cable television rights to the Hornets after Cox Sports Television refused to renew his contract with the team. The channel was launched on October 31, 2012, at the beginning of the regular season of the New Orleans Hornets that year; Fox Sports New Orleans broadcast 75 Hornet games during the first year of the team agreement with the channel.
On December 14, 2017, The Walt Disney Company announced plans to acquire 22 regional Fox Sports networks from 21st Century Fox, including Fox Sports New Orleans. Once the deal is approved, the network will change the brand under ESPN.

Programming
In addition to bringing Pelikan exhibitions, regular seasons and round-table playoff conferences, Fox Sports New Orleans also airs Major League Baseball matches featuring Texas Rangers and selected broadcasts from NHL Dallas Stars broadcasted by Fox Sports Southwest channel sisters, as well as college sports events high from the Big 12 Conference and Southeast Conference.
In 2014, Fox Sports New Orleans began broadcasting the college football game Tulane Green Wave of choice, starting with the September 9 fight against the Duke Blue Devils. From its foundation, it was reported that the channel will negotiate for television rights to programs and events related to the Saints New Orleans Saints team involving LSU Tigers. While they managed to acquire some Tiger Macan sports programs such as tiger football, basketball and volleyball, attempts to obtain a Saints-related program did not work.
