The Cyclone engine, also the Duratec brand, is the new Ford Motor Company DOHC V6 petrol-engined family that was introduced in 2006. Cyclones replaced the previous Ford V6 engine family, including those built by Canada The Ford Essex engine was introduced in 1981, the Ford Vulcan engine was introduced in 1985, the original Duratec V6 was introduced in 1993, and the Ford Cologne V6 engine, whose design dates back to 1962. The first version of the Cyclone engine, 3.5 V6 L, appeared at the Ford Edge 2007 and the Lincoln-badged luxury variant, Lincoln MKX, and Lincoln MKZ. Mazda symbolizes its Cyclone version MZI as it does with versions of Duratec V6 .

Although Ford continues to use the name Duratec, Cyclones do not share components or designs with Duratec before and are completely new.

Leading Cyclone features include capacity for displacement ranging up to 4.0Ã £, L, DOHC 4-valve per cylinder head, direct acting mechanical bucket (DAMB) camshaft tappets, variable cam timings (iVCT) on intake camshafts, and twin independent cam timings (Ti-VCT) in some newer versions. Features such as direct injection of gasoline and turbocharging are considered in the design phase and have been added to the machine as part of EcoBoost . The 3.5 L is ULEV-II compliant and capable of meeting PZEV requirements.

3.5 L

The Duratec 35 replaced 3.5 L (3496 cc, 213 CID) with a dull 92.5 mm (3.64 in) and 86.7 mm (3.41 in) stroke. Due to the difference in packaging in the transversal application, the relocation pumps water into the valley behind the time cover and is driven by the time chain. The 3.5 L engine will fit into any smaller engine Duratec 3.0Ã, will, and replace it in some apps (especially Ford Taurus) in 2008 models. Production began in 2006 for Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, and Lincoln MKZ.

The official SAE certified engine output is 265 hp (198 kW) and 250 lb ft (339 N m) at 87 octane gas. This was a substantial increase in power from Duratec 30 and was defeated by all octane engines 87 octane rating of V6 at the time of its release. For 2011, 3.5Ã,® L received Ti-VCT, helping to increase output to 285 hp (213 kW) and 253 lb ft (343 N m). The highest output of 3.5 L to date is 290 bhp (216 kW; 294 PS). This version is used in the redesigned Ford Explorer 2011.

The engine is assembled at Five Engines in Lima, Ohio, with planned expansions at Cleveland Engine Plant # 1.

The 3.5 L is on the list of 10 Best Ward Machines for 2007.

The Duratec 37 is version 3.7Ã, L (3726Ã, cc/227 CID) of Cyclone V6 intended for heavier or premium vehicle power. Ford Power Products sells this machine as CSG-637 for industrial use from mid 2015, replacing Essex 4.2L.

A Hiroshima, Japan assembled Mazda MZI 3.7 installed on the Mazda CX-9 2008 and is the first 3.7 Â ° L Cyclone V6 to see the production. The first Ford app of 3.7 L is the Lincoln MKS 2009.

A few days before the Los Angeles International Automotive Exhibition 2009, Ford launched a new version of 3.7 L for the 2011 Mustang, making it the first Duratec-badged V6 since the LS Lincoln was used in the production of rear-wheel drive cars.
