ESPN Deportes ( Spanish pronunciation: Ã, [i.espi'en de'po? tes] , ESPN Sports ) is a Spanish-language cable channel and an American Spanish satellite sports TV channel owned by ESPN Inc., a joint venture between Disney-ABC Television Group division of The Walt Disney Company (which owns 80% controlling share) and Hearst Communications (which owns the remaining 20%). This network is primarily aimed at the Hispanic population in the United States. The channel is broadcast from studio facilities at ESPN's traditional operations base in Los Angeles, Coral Gables, Florida, and Bristol, Connecticut, along with their Mexico base in Mexico City.

ESPN Deportes is available on most cable and satellite providers including Comcast, Altice USA, AT & amp; T U-verse, Cox Communications, Charter Communications, Dish Network, and DirecTV. According to Nielsen, ESPN Deportes is available for at least 5.5 million Hispanic households in the United States through a programming package that includes the channel. In contrast, ESPN does not retain audio feeds of the second audio program on their English channel in the United States (except for the Spanish ABC coverage for NBA Finals), which allows full exclusivity to ESPN Deportes for Spanish rights to its properties.

Histori

ESPN Deportes was launched as an alternate Spanish programming feed in July 2001, when ESPN and Major League Baseball started offering Spanish-language broadcasts from Home Run Derby and selected Sunday Night Baseball game broadcasts. In 2003, the simulation was extended to all Sunday Night Baseball and Sunday Night Football game broadcasts, as well as boxing.

ESPN Deportes became a separate 24-hour sports cable channel on January 7, 2004. In 2007, ESPN Deportes started producing the daily English segment featured during the overnight edition of its American network of SportsCenter , hosted by Michele LaFountain and several other figures. ESPN Deportes launched a 720p high-definition simulation feed in April 2011, although as many Spanish cable network packages remain with the majority of networks in standard definition, ESPN Deportes retains their "BottomLine" news ticker in a form designed for 4: 3 sets, matching forms visible on ESPN Classic and ESPN on ABC broadcasts. But since 2016, the BottomLine ticker has been extended to a 16: 9 design used by other ESPN networks.

The network reserves the right to display all the events listed below but some are not broadcast on the network due to scheduling conflicts, but are streamed online in ESPN Deportes.
