The American Public Center is a complex of several office buildings in Neartown Houston, Texas located along Allen Parkway. Owned by AIG American General.
The America Tower is a 590 feet (180 m) skyscraper. It was completed in 1983 and has 42 floors. This is the 19th tallest building in town. It serves as the headquarters of Baker Hughes. It serves as a former headquarters of Continental Airlines; now the home of AIG American General and BDO USA, LLP. Other buildings include Life Building, Wortham Tower, Woodson Tower (a.k.a. Liberty Tower), and Riviana Building.

On July 1, 1983, the Continental Airlines headquarters were located in America Tower, and would remain there until relocation to Downtown Houston in 1998 and 1999. Stephen M. Wolf, president of Continental said the company moved its headquarters because Houston became the largest. hub for Continental. During the existence of Texas Air Corporation in the 1980s, he was headquartered in the American Tower. In September 1997, Continental announced that it would move its headquarters to Continental Center I. Continental had occupied about 250,000 square feet (23,000 m 2 ) in space in the Tower of America before its lease expired in July 1998.
In 1998 Andersen Consulting, now Accenture, announces that it will consolidate the existing Houston City Center and urban workforce into 153,000 square feet (14,200 m 2 ) in the Tower of America, with more than 1,100 employees based in room. Lynn Cook of the Houston Business Journal describes this as "an astonishing number for the rent size of Andersen Consulting." In 1999 Cushman & amp; Wakefield, a realty company, moved his office in Houston to America Tower from the Wells Fargo Tower at Four Oaks Place in Uptown Houston. In 1999 the building was 99% leased.
